Good move on the background and the Salmon. Achieved your objectives. Sharp foreground, bokeh background. Can see a bit of land at right which I think is good.
Make a BIG one.... To keep costs controlled, try a "poster print" first, then you can do a Lucite, Aluminum, or paper. This would be nice on a coffee mug as a gift to the folks on your fishing trip, or the guide, whichever. |

Right.
You could create two images, one for each.

Should the background be lighter ..... or darker? I don't like it the way it is. Maybe some of the spots on the animal > darker?
It just seems "blah." |

I see a couple nice crops to leave just three Cranes, but I don't see any disadvantage with the five you have. I can't say what to do to the sky, but it needs something to eliminate the flat grey-ness. |

Soft glow: That's what makes this picture. Nice job.
Small suggestion: darken or eliminate the lamp in the lower window to look like those above. Clone Tool? |

When it comes to cropping, I'm in the school of crop-tight or crop-tightly whichever grammar you like. One doesn't need to see the hind end of an animal to recognize it. I learned this with my American bald eagle which showed originally almost all of the body. People kept telling me to crop more, until I finally got something that was winnable. Try cropping just behind the forelegs and then balance that with a bit off of the other side. |

You have eliminated a lot of background and sideground that makes the Portrait of the dancer a really nice picture. Only suggestion is to take a small/variable size brush and darken the long flowers eminating from the head-dress. |
