Thanks, Jennifer. "Vintage" type images seem to have an appeal for me.

re the origin of his name: I don't know, but the predominant nationality of immagrants to that part of Texas came from Germany. |

Thanks. I try to "see things" in that manner and then convert to the memory.

You have the verticals straight, nice POV, focused nicely. If you're uncertain about the crop, it could be cropped from the top to the heads and lamps and a little more. I think Diana would say "more contrast," to which I'd agree. I think you have the makings of a very competitive image. |

I prefer the color on this one. Too large of a challenge to do the separations and contrasting.

Thanks. I use the Nik Antique Wet Plate pre-set a lot and get lots of nice comments. It is a technological "time warp" creator. |

Yep, focus stacking is a super technique and is here to stay. Also some very nice Stacking software products available to purchase. (I think the one I have was one of the first: HeliconFocus.) Composition is very creative. I just read, but lost, a nice quotation that said to the effect, Find a mundane subject and make it interesting..... You did that nicely. |

I, too, prefer the color (for a change) for the reasons Diana lists. But I think you can have some fun times "working the mono" version. Do you have Nik?

Do what you love. Take/Make photos of what you do. No matter what you do and what you like, it won't please everyone, so just do what pleases you.
Of course if for competition, one must think/and anticipate who the judges will be and what they will do. (Some are pixel peepers, some follow the rules, some think they can create the rules.)
I like it in mono.
Wild animals exist because their camoflauge works most of the time.
