I usually set up a shoot in the garage or somewhere with side-lighting and supplemented by softbox lights, and invite other ph'ers to come over and "go at it". I have two, each 1000watts. I don't know for sure about the overly bright petals, but my prints don't have that problem. Could it be the small number of pixels that are displayed vs. what gets printed? (I dislike Zones 1 and 2 and try to get 'something' everywhere.) |

I think the color version is the better of the two (because I can tell what it is.)

Thanks, good ideas.
Re Orchids and blooming:
They (all comments typical) won't bloom until they are "root bound" in their pots. And they won't bloom or grow in dirt, only in something like bark. Then when they get root bound too much and stop blooming it's time to re-pot them (divide and make twice as many with new bark.) then it'll take a couple more years for them to get root bound and bloom again. A special orchid fertilizer applied as per the instructions only during certain months, is helpful.
I've given a lot of these away. I inherited them when my father died in 1996. He had many, but his wife (my step mother) was discarding them and when I found out I saved six. Even after giving some away, I now have 13. 10 blossomed last January/Feb....a strange time for a blooming, but....that's when they do it.
