The reason I asked: In many photo clubs, the definition is what they want it to be, and as a oftentimes photo judge, it complicates the business. |

Nicely composed and with very good lighting/shadows/sharpness. |

A different composition/POV..... refreshing. The sunlight makes it work. I too recommend shading out some of the people and retaining and enhancing the individual who is looking up. He gives the image a story instead of a record.

I think the full ferris wheel is the image that we see often, so to excise a small portion is a refreshing treat. Stephen's and Diana's comments about re-doing it but retaining the lower right is a positive suggestion. Nice contrasts. |

I think the four "first responders" all agree on the composition. Tom's increased contrast is, IMO, an improvement. |

Tom and I seem to prefer the "old photo" version of the two shown. As a "try it" you might take the original and convert to BW, but not have the round framing. |

I prefer the mono, although the color has possibilities in certain venues, such as might be found at the Christmas Holidays. Well done.

I'm not sure, so this is a question ..... Is monochrome one color and white? Or can it be one color and Black? |

Yes, it was taken with black and white film to fit the vintage scene. The original was very sharply contrasty (already a Chairoscuro) so I felt I would make some slight enhancing adjustments to give it a "contemporary to the times" appearance: grain, Vignette, and the Nik Classic Camera pre-set. Although not much was done to it, I didn't think the original was a representative photo of the times of the mining town. (It fell to ruin many years ago.....in the film era.) It's a long way from anywhere and one has to have a reason to go into this area. It was quite prosperous in its time and even had an "Opera House," which is another vintage subject for another day. |
