I don't recall saying white, sepia and black is OK.
I do recall posting a definition created by PSA and it's up to reviewers to interpret or accept that definition. |

I don't have the expertise to know the answer, but I see three "colors:" White, brownish, and black. |

Tom's comment about concentrating on the fog in the trees is the key. I agree with the crop and the overall impression.

RE: Monochrome.....This morning I was reviewing the PSA ICPC Instructions in anticipation of our club having me as one of our three ICPC Rounds judges. In the ICPC instructions, it has this definition: ("A monochrome print is defilned as a print which contains only shades of gray from black to whtie, or appears to be a grayscale print thst has been toned in one color across the entire image. Any print that appears to have been multi-toned or has a spot of color shall be classified as a color print.") |

The head in profile is so outstanding that you might crop to a 'head shot'... That would solve your old sign problem and give you an opportunity to work on the background......maybe more contrast vs the head?
No sign means it would qualify for a Nature Photo (PSA)?? |

I also grow this type of orchid. Cymbidium Orchids. Haven't had any blossoms for three years due to the Deep Freeze here in Texas and that I re-potted/divided them three years ago and they won't bloom until they become root bound. However, I now have several bloom starts just showing.
Based on the comments I receive on my orchid pictures, I think doing something extreme such as you've done is just right. Don't change it. Maybe re-title it to Orchids in Low Key?
I'll submit an image even more extreme in a couple months. I've been working on simulating etchings and I did one with an orchid stem. |

Basically, I like what you've done. there are some nice comments from the members, too.
Those birds look like "Texas Eagles" (or more realistically: Vultures)
The white item next to the rear left wheel appears to be an "eye snag" inasmuch as I can't determine its relevance and what the white part is.
Winter is a good time to shut the studio door and get creative.
