yes, f/1.8 It opens up a whole new world for me and the lens is not overly expensive. |

Wow. Quite an experience. Great PJ story image. (except cloning a head is not allowed in PJ.) Anyway, a nice story image.
I like grain in the right circumstances and wouldn't worry about it. This is a right environment for grain. |

Needs more? Try increasing the contrast between the background and the bird's body feathers to make them less similar in tonality. ie, attempt to gain separation of the primary subject from the background. |

Can it be improved? I tried increasing the Contrast a bit and think that helped. Nice composition and all around good image. |

I think your comment about the partial guitar player is very prescient. ie, the partial view. Thanks. Altho not my image, I learned from your comment.
welcome to the Study Group.

How does this one look? In addition to conversion to BW, I cropped the blurry cable of the ring that was at the bottom.
(Yes, I know DD55 is color and not BW, but based on Marianne's comment I thought I'd give it a try. I did. Next month I'll submit it to DD32 which is a monochrome study group.)
Thanks to all for your assistance with the comments. wes |

The goose is silhouetted against the bright reflection of the light. This "makes" the image. I didn't upload and try it, but it might be worth a few minutes to increase the contrast overall.....giving the whites a boost? |

Spectacular.
The treatment of light (directions) is very very nicely done.
The background "fits" the subject and adds significantly to the overall image.
Nicely done. |

One of our club members photographed a similar image and did very well with it in competition. You should also.
Very creative, good tonalities, sharpness. Nice work. |
