48 Feb 25 Comment Wonderful image. You transported me from my kitchen to a beach in Alabama where I am relaxing in a beach chair, drinking tea and enjoying a fantastic seascape. Feb 15th
48 Feb 25 Comment Fantastic image. Colors are amazing. The geometry of the curve is nice and relaxing. For me, my eyes are pulled to the left of the image to the small kayak on the end; like to the peak of a mountain. Didn't even notice that the tip of the right kayak was missing. Well done you. 48 Feb 25 Comment I find this image very interesting. I like it. It reminds me of product images you can find in glamour magazines with the product being only slightly different from the background.

I would take a look at the background and give the test shoot another try. The pattern is fine, but there are little white specs in the knit and the pattern on the fabric is curved.

For metallic/glossy objects, you need large light sources. Get some diffusion paper to build a tent or purchase some large softboxes.

Check out Karl Taylor and VisualEducationStudio on YouTube. He shares lots of info about studio lighting. Look for the video on a lighting cone. Don't be daunted by the expensive gear. You can do still life with a few speedlights.

48 Feb 25 Reply Thanks for the comments. I believe that was a strip box providing the additional light. The lighting on her belt and pants is a little to bright to be a reflector. I typically use a reflector unless it is not up to the task. Although I like the fade-to-black look, you can sometimes end up with a head floating in a sea of black. Just need a little bit of separation. Feb 14th
48 Feb 25 Reply I am a big fan of low key images as well. Love the mysteriousness of the style. The reflections in the glasses look even more interesting if there is a grid on the softbox. Feb 14th
