Like others, I like the crop and conversion to B&W. My eye went immediately to the pick. |

I love this image, Adrian. My first reaction was a loving mother. It invokes a lot of emotion for me. |

Thanks, Adrian. I probably should have posted a 2 turtle image. I have a lot including ones of the triangle with 7+ painted turtles on each log, some part way on top of the turtle in front. I tried to lighten shadows and did a 16x9 crop of this 3x2 image. Maybe it is more acceptable. I am still learning how to mask in LR and am way behind in learning PS techniques. |

Thank you, Chris, for your analysis of colors and how they work for Maria's crop vs my crop. It gives me more to consider. |

Chris, what a lovely image. I find the flower as interesting as the Oriole. Wonderful DOF. I am conflicted about the left branch. I like Maria's modification but I prefer your's because for me, environmental setting is important. I think the branch on the left acts as a frame of the bird with the branch it is holding on to. |

Barbara, I really like your crop. To me it is an artistic image you have created instead of a photo of a bee. If you were going for an image of a bee foraging, then the tighter crop and reducing the yellow cast by Issac works better. I love artistic images, so am drawn to your initial crop and tint. |

Thank you so much, Issac. Now I see that the far turtle looking away from the frame makes it less of an issue because if the face is seen, it would bother the viewer if it was not sharp, thus pulling the interest away from the turtles in front. |

Thanks, Maria, for an alternative crop. As a turtle photo, it works better, particularly for aim of this group. I tend to lean toward attempting an artistic style. A lot of my work is ICM (handheld long exposures) and multiple exposure in camera, which I don't think is part of any group on PSA. |

Thank you, Barbara. In the PNW we often have muted color days. |

Maria, this is a wonderful image, though I like the 19x9 aspect ratio by Issac and Bruce better because the crab as subject is more visually powerful, though I like slightly more contrast of the crab. As Barbara mentioned, wonderful DOF. |

Bruce, I agree with others about more space in front, but getting a sharp action shot in the moment would have been my priority. Pause to zoom out and your shot is lost. I was not aware that it is okay to manipulate the image and add elements that were not in the photo. I like the water coming off the bear. I think it is a captivating image. |
