96 Oct 24 Reply Hi Robert,
Your question or suggestion regarding the sharpening makes sense. Admittedly, I have not treated the background and foreground separately, sharpening wise.
I think it was because I am used to using wide and super wide angle lenses, where just about everything is in focus, I neglected to be more precise.
Good catch!

96 Oct 24 Comment Wonderful . . .
I love the scene.
The only suggestions I can make are two fold.
1. I don't know if you can recover some of the detail of the building faces on the left side by reducing the highlights.
2. The left and right columns on the first floor deck appear to be ever so slightly splayed out. Ideally they would each appear perfectly vertical . . . just as your human eyes would render them.

Complex High contrast scenes are sometimes difficult to crop, especially with bright elements at the edges or corners of the image. An example is the short sliver of very bright light in the lower right corner. I find that when the eye is drawn to the edges of an image by a high contrasting bright area, one's gaze is tempted to leave the scene. I am not necessarily suggesting you crop it out, but rather tone that bright wall face down a bit.
I would also consider cropping just a tiny amount from the left edge . . . only enough to eliminate the top of the tower on the upper left of the village.

96 Oct 24 Comment Quite an intriguing colour combination . . . your image really popped out at me.
The only questionable comment I can make, after viewing it for a while, is that there appears to be a touch of blown highlights near the upper portion of your image . . . just to the right of centre.

96 Oct 24 Comment Lovely Image . . .
I prefer the colour version.
To consider the potential of "making it better," I recommend "playing" with the sliders in the "Calibration Panel" along with the "Presence" Sliders in Adobe Lightroom or Lightroom Classic or the "Camera RAW" filter in Adobe Photoshop software . . . (or equivalents in other software).

Wow! . . . What a great scene.
I would not have the courage to engage in that sport.
Thanks for sharing,

Rick
