Thanks fot your comment, Somdutt. Probably the sky does not quite fit in for the lights incoherence commented by Stephen. Unfortunately I don't know how to do it better, but it's a matter to think about. I believe the idea is good and it deserves more trials to develop it better. |

Thank you very much for your kind comment. You and Diana are right with regard to the right body, I'll modify it as I'm sure the photo will improve with this tip. |

Well, personally I prefer the monochrome version, but of course it's a matter of opinions, all of them right.
I like the photo very much, it's a strong portrait with very nice grey tones. I agree with Diana, the left part of the face (especially the eye) is a bit dark, and the hat too black. I suspect that the photo will improve if you lift these shadows.
Anyway, it's a very good photo. Congratulations! |

Thank you very much for your comment, Diana! Obviously, it's not a landscape, but I found fun to try to create it.
I'll try to follow your suggestion, which surely will improve the result. |

I saw a flock of Sandhill cranes last September in Wyoming and, as we don't have this species in Spain, I found them very interesting, they were new for us!
By the way, could you give me (maybe in a private message) any reference of the Kelby/Levels method? It's also new for me...
With regard to the photo, my only comment is that from my point of view the original colour version is better. In your well processed monochrome version, the grass may disturb more than in colour one, were the bird is less cryptic.

You have seen a good detail, Tom, congratulations for it!
I like very much the lights and the shadows of the photo, with one exception: the dense black strip of the bottom part of the picture. Perhaps the photo could be improved by slightly cutting the bottom of the pic, and to use generative refill to change the rest of the bottom black shadow in the right part of the photo. But, of course, we should try it to see if it works! |

Stephen, I like the idea and the composition, with the main subject in the center of the image in spite of other composition rules. It works pretty well in your case!
From my point of view, I think the photo could be improved with a bit more contrast and clarity. Have you tried it? |

I find very interesting the diagonal of the boats and the reflection on the water, especially in the half left part of the photo.
From my humble point of view, in the right half part of the photo I see too many "white" (the river, the sky and even the walls of the right houses) and I find it very distracting. Have you tried to do a crop removing the lower 1/4 part of the photo, together with, in the right side, the 1/5 part? With this crop you will remove a significant part of the "white" and I think the observer would focus more easily in the boats and the river... |

Thank you very much for your honest comment, Stephen! I agree with you that light is not coherent, but I didn't know how to do it better. Any idea by the rest of the group? |
