I, too, like images with a great deal of black, but I like pure black. While Butch has good ideas about opening up the detail, I suggest experimenting with the opposite and seeing how this looks if you push the dark areas to even darker black. |

Great shot. I really like the near and far.
Douglas raises an interesting discussion of the media interaction between photography and painting. I agree that many photographs are painterly, and many paintings are photographic. |

This is good subject, and you ask a good question.
I slightly prefer your post-processed image, but a little less post-processing, now that I have seen the SOOC image. I think the processed colors are just a bit unrealistically over-intensified, and so do not quite look natural. |

This is a wow.
It does not get any better with stopping and setting up a tripod. |

Very clever contrast between permanence and action.
I like your original, with its extensive water and sky scope. I suggest a little less crop, only to exclude the white building at the right. I like the path at the top, the little tower, and the lone whole tree. I do not think that crop would lose the bike rider, but perhaps even further suggest his smallness in the midst of the old structures. |

Wes,
Yes, volcanic, but I believe it is layers of ash that have hardened into a soft sandstone-like material. You can scratch grains loose with a kitchen utensil or even your fingernail a bit.
Thanks for the editing, but it did not show up.
My wife is the Turk, and I have been visiting her country ever since we paired up in 1972.

I blew up the image, and voila, the shed is actually a set of flood lights for the tourists.
Access might have been in cave tunnels interior. Some of these might have been storage caves for agricultural products. |

The water drop is a delicate touch. I have never seen something like that before, so you get credit for a good and creative eye. The delicacy of the water drop contrasts in my mind with recent images in other groups of herons swallowing frogs whole. |

Looking at this again, and thinking about Tom's comment about the hands, I think the over-large hands are interesting. Back to my comment about Lady Macbeth who imagines her hands are stained with blood and tries to wash them clean. |

Haha. But it might be OK if you crop in on just the two on the right? |

I think this extra activity is excellent to do, and fun.
Good luck developing your portfolio. I like all the images. I like making it in color, for those red crests. |

Yes, I particularly like your closeup view. I feel like I am a couple of inches from touching the machinery. It is all in such sharp focus. |

I like the strong diagonal element against rectilinear architecture. If possible, it's nice to get shots like this when there is sun adding shadows to the complexity of the image. I like the details, especially the board of wood lying on the stairs. If the dish on the roof were removed, that would be nice, but not a big deal. |

Lady Macbeth, later in the play, when distraught with guilt?
Or one of the witches?
Great costume and acting by your member friend. That surely makes the image, although it is not so sharp.
I think the lighting is OK, but more dramatic noir lighting might have been a good experiment.
But what happened to your taste for strong contrast? |

Very clever use of mirror image. I like the result, especially that some of the image is not mirrored. |

Very good composition. You might consider converting it to monochrome with high contrast. |
