Did you have any interactions with the girl? Did you find out what might have been in her heart? Is there more of a story to the picture or your story of taking the picture to tell us? |

The brisk contrast between the yellow building and the blue and gray reflections is good. You also straightened the perspective, which works well for this image.
But I find the single spherical distortion a surprise. How about covering the entire image with a series of such distortions, a bit like a molecular crystal structure. |

My wife asks if you made compote? She used to have quince compote (with cloves, in a sugar syrup) when she was young. |

Ahem! I do most of the cooking in our home.
Yes, it takes a little while to make up the party favors. They are, admittedly, from my wife's tradition, but I prepare them.
About quince, what did you make? Quince makes an excellent jam. |

I made a shot at showing the motion in the legs, and tried to keep your concept, but I think what you did was a better choice. |

I like Ed's good point that the helmets all look alike in the monochrome. |

Yes, I like this result, keeping only the highlights. It is clearly a shot of horses in motion. But you did not have any good light on their legs, so there was no way I suppose to include their motion-blurred legs. |

Oooh, very creative. I am fine with the wizard, his pose, lighting, and shadow. But at first glance, I thought he was conjuring a giant soap bubble. Once I saw that he did not have one of those giant soap hoops, I read your comments and understood. Ed's ideas would help. I might suggest that the conjured object look more like a conventional space alien or a cinematic ghost. What about Hamlet's father's ghost? Seriously. I mean that. |

You are quite right, that is a compositional concern. In this case, I wanted the cut-off composition because that implies that the pattern is infinite. This is also a compositional concern in hand-woven rug designs, to suggest that the central pattern goes on infinitely, and that the we are just looking through a window into a part of the pattern. |

What an interesting and very intact looking house. I am surprised no one has acquired it for a summer house.
Yes, the stairs are good.
My first reaction was that the sky was a bit too dark, but the more I look at it, the more comfortable I am with it as it is. |

It is true what Wes observed that you already have black blacks, but I agree with his first thought, that the rest of the image could have a little more contrast.
I like the way the sky turned out in your finished image. And it is all sharp as a tack, which makes the shingled roof and the siding look so crisp. |

I thought you only needed enough of the bicycles to know what they were, but not needing to see the full wheels. |

Great shot. I tried cutting off more according to your stated approach. I think less is more. How does this look? |

You made an interesting composition from your source material. All the changes worked well, cropping, monochrome, texture. It became a study in emptiness, with all the thoughtful, almost Zen, meaning of that implied. I keep looking at it again and again, which for me is the test of a good image. I am enticed to wonder what is behind the bolted door. Did you try including some of the roof? I see from your bio that this is your specialty. Well done. |

My wife and I live in Bethesda, Maryland, and we have often passed that statue on East-West Hwy. It is a great subject and I particularly like that you shot this from an angle that emphasized the length of the digits. You chose an angle and a time of day with good lighting.
I looked up shots of it on the Internet, and they all rendered the hand as stocky, which is very incompatible with a hand open to the sky and birds.
On the other hand (I could not resist), it would have been great if you could have included all five digits and not have that clutter of trees behind the birds. Demanding everything, could you also get a fuller view of all four birds? How about shooting from a lower angle? |

What an opportunity you had to get these shots. No suggestion for improvement, only admiration.
We were lucky to live in Taiwan for a couple of years in the late 80s, and came to love both similar scenery and the art inspired by it. |

This is a very strong shot, with good lights and darks. The subject is interesting. The 24mm lens was right for the job.
I think that white cloud is a distraction. |
