I always prefer these types of shots empty of animals or people if possible. Just my preference. |

I see, that makes sense, but the more I stare at those two, the more I am trying to decipher my discontent. I accept the head tilts, but now I think it is that she is staring directly and confidently at the camera, and he lacks the panache needed for the role. And that makes sense, since she is the professional and he has just started to pose.
But as to how you shot the picture, the lighting is great with nice Rembrandt triangles on both their cheeks. |

A good discussion for those strong on using the software. I am afraid mine is old and even so I do not use it much.
I have a comment about the pose. The woman is slightly chin down and the man is a little more that slightly chin up. I have a very personal reaction to this. I find it truly disturbing.
Diana, since you mentioned their marital status, I just noticed his ring finger, but hers is not showing. Better to show both or neither. I wonder if people of this period might not have worn such modern wedding bands. At least it was not his wristwatch. |

Good discussion about soft focus and sharpening.
I find the original pleasing as a soft focus image.
Tom's sharpening also looks good should one prefer a sharper image.
Another thought: I think for the soft focus version, planned viewing distance would be a factor. If it were displayed on a wall and viewed from a distance, the effect would be pleasing. |

A classic composition. I also love to shoot a row of arches like this.
I wondered if I could try the conversion to monochrome and get more separation of the arch beams from the stone work, but I don't think I managed anything.
However, I rotated the image a bit left to level out the one horizontal line at the far end of the archway. |

Thank you so much. I think I will try more crowd shots when we next go to the theater. |

Cool! Do you remember the scene in The Incredibles when they are advised against capes? |
