This is a great pose, and good lighting on the egret. I think you should work on it more. See what the others say, but I am always for selecting the background and darkening it. In this case, I would not recommend my usual solid black because the context is good. The two branches crossing in front of the bird, I would not try to eliminate, because they contribute to the context.
I particularly like the backlighting behind the wings--very unique. |

Very good job with the clouds; and also with the vertical correction--I assume you did that in PS. You have novel compositions--this one is interesting because you shot only the top half of a building. That composition, plus your angle, and the pointed design of the building, all give the impression of a bird flying. I am reminded of Brancusi's "Bird in Space." |

Always an interesting subject for me, since our oldest daughter has been an equestrienne since she was eight years old. Very nice, to shoot a pure white horse. It helps the subject stand out from the background. |

Carol, this is quite a piece of work! You know how I like to do interpretation. So here goes. What is the significance of these particular Psalms to you? Is there a linkage between the subject of these Psalms and "going to church"? If you have included a pen, how about showing some underlining or annotations in the Bible, like "I must remember this every day of my life," in the margin. |

Lynne, this is a very nice composition, and I think the vignette is very effective. Would you tell us more about the lighting situation? Where is the light source? Is it diffuse or direct? Is the right flower front-lit or back-lit? How is it that the background is so dark--was that the situation, or did you do that in post-processing? Everything looks very sharp at f/8--what was the focal length of your lens and how far were you from the flowers? |

Nice juxtaposition of two people so differently dressed as they walk along together. I would cut off a bit more from the top (half the shingled room), and about 1/3 from the left, so that the acute angle of the white line in the middle of the road exactly meets the lower left corner of the frame. |
