That's amazing. Does this mean that I should try flipping EVERY shot I work with to see if it looks better left or right? Why does this work? Why does it work in this case? Is it because we read English left to right? |

I had another look at this, and compared it to the original color shot. True, the color shot could be improved in color (not our project in this group), but I am amazed all over again at how rich the expressiveness of b/w can be when the pixel data always present in the recorded image is coaxed into such a dramatic interpretation with the help of good tools and experienced photographers. A friend of mine who has a communications degree reminded me that seeing b/w goes right to the eye and brain through the rods (b/w sensors) of the eye. There is something in the experience of seeing light and dark that is special. |

Yes, very nice, but please give us the basic concept as to how your created this new feature--the photo frame. |

Are the labels on "Original 1" and "Original 2" reversed? "Original 1" looks like the finished perspective-corrected color shot.
I prefer the color shot because of the delicate color tones. That is not to diminish the very fine b/w result. |

This is very interesting, the special effect. I like the result. The image is accurate, but also artistically interpretive. Wes, your anecdote is funny--I imagine the technology in the PS and other programs must indeed drive some artists crazy. |

Nice shot, as usual, of very unique natural formations. These occur in a few places around the world--another is in Turkey, in Cappadocia. |

Gray and gloomy is often good shooting weather, I often say.
Compositionally, I like the range of tones in the mountain, from dark at the top to light at the bottom. The just-submerged serpentine track, continuing to the above-water road, is perfect, especially as it leads to the corner of the frame. The two people on the end of the road are perfectly positioned. I don't do much competition, but it looks very impressive to me. |

Wes, thanks for the supportive comment. I could not resist the subject matter.
I think I once knew Jennifer did immigration work, but I am sorry to say I forgot that. Thanks for reminding me of that.
Jennifer, I am going to write to you individually about our situation, and at least share our story with you.
