Thank you Jarrod. I did play around with compositions/arrangements. See the image I posted in my comment back to Carole for a variation on my same outing. For someone who cannot make a flower arrangement to save my life, I was happy with the results of this still life adventure. |

Thank you Nancy. I had fun playing with the composition...and fighting the slight breeze that attempted to rearrange my arrangements (smile). I ended up with about five variations using the bark in some and the boardwalk plans in others. |

Thanks Bunny. This was a fun walk through the woods.
Betsy is incredible, as are her programs. She has presented to our Camera Club twice and is presenting a third program in December. |

Thanks Carole. I like your changes. As we all know I tend to crop tightly. I think I should have left more of the bark in the image. I debated between the image i submitted and another that I am adding with this comment. |

Ally - I love the colors and the pineapple as the center of focus. I would probably try a f/8 or even f/11 setting to get all of the pineapple arrangement in sharp focus. I would like to see the bottom of the pineapple in the image with the berries around or by the base more in focus as well. Very appetizing! |

Welcome Jarrod. I too am a Nikon and Tamron user! Lovely image. I like the shallow depth of field on this with the light focused on the words and the grainy texture. As you will discover, I am typically a tight cropper...as such, I would likely crop out the light left-hand side of the image and a bit off of the top leaving the highlighted area focusing primarily on the words. |

I love the idea of the chess set and pieces. Coming in late with comments, I am going to piggyback on Bunny's comments. Especially as this is a still life, I would crop to focus more closely on the chess set (part of it). I also used a mask to darken the background and add a bit of contrast. I also tried to saturate the chess pieces with another mask on the subject. I think trying have the chess pieces in sharper focus and leaving the background softer would strengthen the image. This is a fun image! |

Connie you did a great job with the lighting and arrangement of this still life. I would agree with other comments about shooting at a higher aperture to get the whole image in focus. If you use Lightroom, I would do a background mask to make the entire background a solid dark black which would make the chicks really pop. See upload... |

Bunny - I love this composition. The colors and elements that you selected work well together. I think I might prefer a solid background (as opposed to textured). The textured background pulls my eye away from the subject matter, and a solid background might focus all of the viewer's attention on the subject. That said, I actually do like the wrinkled look of the music sheets. :) I would also be interested in seeing this as just a music still life with a third sheet of music and no shoes. |

Carole - Very creative! I love the hot pink and white color combination as well as the texture. I might crop or rearrange the image to eliminate the lower left-hand corner showing the couch cushion. Then, instead of removing the yarn roll, I might position the it at an angle overlapping the pink area. I agree that eliminating it entirely would provide a different "look." It is always fun to play with different compositions and cropping when shooting still life. |
