Thank you Nancy. The original image is actually one of those swing rides that go around and up and down. I would rather be on the ground photographing than riding. :) |

Thanks Connie! I wanted to get rid of the solid black areas but that would have deleted a lot of what I wanted to keep. I am thinking that maybe I can clone some of the colorful design onto a limited area that is black. Always fun to play with it. |

Thank you Carole. Ironically, I have been considering creating note cards for awhile. I had not, however, thought about abstract designs. Great thought! |

I like this cropped version a lot. This is what makes abstract photography so fun - you can create so many different images from the original starting point. |

Carole - I like the one red "streak" that is different texture-wise from the other parts of the image and leads you up and out of the corner of the image. It is a little different image if cropped to remove most of that area. Of course this is the beauty of abstract photography.

What a wonderful sense of movement. While there is some sense of realism in the lower ladder legs this does not lead you to associate with ladders. I love this image. |

As Melissa said, I would never have guessed the original image. The color combination is beautiful. I might try to lighten the darker areas in the upper and lower left areas to bring out some of that detail and balance the exposure a bit. |

Melissa this is a wonderful abstract - really well balanced in terms of the colors and exposure. I can certainly see the relationship to the original image when both are presented; however, I would never have guessed the original image otherwise. |

Thank you Melissa. I have not used Photoshop much and had fun playing with the filters. When I shot film I used to re-shoot a "straight" photo behind different types of textured glass to get very cool abstract effects. I also like shooting abstracts and impressionistic images using in camera motion techniques. |

Ally - I love this image and would hang it on my wall! However, for purposes of the assigned subject, I would categorize this more as an impressionistic photo as opposed to an abstract. Typically an abstract image does not reflect the subject or "reality" in its true form. I was trying to find the definition that we used for our camera club abstract themed competition a few years ago...no luck. Beautiful image. |
