I can see the bird is there, on the tree, to perhaps add atmosphere. But I wonder if it is needed. The birds flying towards us, in a menacing sky, are important, and without the eagle to distract the eye can dwell on the subject of the title - the abandoned car. As usual, your picture has a lovely finish and colour. |

An interesting picture. I like the way you have used an overexposed vignette to isolate the subject. I wonder if it would be improved by removing the foliage bottom right, and softening that on the right hand edge? The other thing I wonder is who were the people riding on this train? Where were they going? What happened to them? If a picture can kick start the imagination, it has succeeded. |

I had to check my glasses were clean when looking at this. It has a strange affect on the eyes. It is an interesting effect. I wonder if it would work better on trees or grasses? |

It is always good to experiment, and this makes an interesting picture. Perhaps adding a different, complimentary, colour as a vignette might introduce some control and contrast to the redness. |

For a while I couldn't decide whether a single sunset would be better. But I don't think so. The double sunset creates an other-worldly, alien feel. The figure is important. There are many that would not like the fact that he is heading out of the picture, but I like that. It creates tension and helps spark the story telling side of the picture. Is he hurring to complete some ceremony before the suns go down, or is there something more sinister about to happen? |

Well Kathleen, you are the first to see the metaphor. Marriage does have its 'stormy waters'. Thank you. |

I can see why you added the owl, but I think they picture would stand without it. The three shapes and the asymmetric composition, added to the mystery of the mist, make a strong photograph. Your pictures of the swamp make me feel there is something lurking, just out of sight, ready to . . . I'm not sure what. |

He's certainly wondering what the mad woman is doing. Some might not like the cut off bits and the clutter of the other boat, but that doesn't bother me. It all adds to the busy fuss of this sort of mooring. I am getting used to your toning, but, somethimes, I long for a juicy, punchy black and white. It would suit this one. |

IR certainly brings out the clouds, but I find the rest a bit 'white', but that's just a matter of taste. Compositionally I like the way you contrast regularity of the lampposts with that of the trees. A manicured landscape surmounted by a chaotic sky. Very interesting. |

A fitting comment on birdwatchers and a good joke. Perfect for April Fool's Day. |

A minimilist photograph worthy of Michael McKenna. I like the way you have left a few strands of grass showing against the snow. I see the emptiness and the isolation but not the loneliness. The tree has the grass and its own strength. Being on its own does not automatically lead to loneliness. A good metaphor and contrast for the bustle of Washington (or any city) - where many are surrounded by people but are still alone. |

This is a great semi-abstract that, at first, confuses the senses. It only goes to show what a smartphone can do, in the right hands. |
