41 Jan 26 Reply Perhaps 'clinical' is the wrong word. I do get the message about lost time and mobile phones, and wholeheartedly agree with you. My thoughts revolve around the aesthetics of the presentation. There's an ambivalence in trying to make 'altered reality' look 'real.' Perhaps that's what it is for me. I've thought about this and think the look of the picture might benefit from some mistiness - that wouldn't be out of place with the sky - and might suggest the mists of time to fit with the theme. As you say, the beauty of photography is that everyone sees something different in a picture and reacts differently. I do love your work, and one thing is certain (and very important): your picture made me think. Jan 16th
41 Jan 26 Reply Good comments, Brad. I like the first version best, as well. I'll re-look at the birds. Oh, she did have pants on but somehow they don't show here. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Reply I agree, Hazel. I prefer the first version, too. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Comment This is really well executed, and yet - I am left feeling the various elements are still unrelated - in spite of the link of the mobile phones. Perhaps they are each too sharply delineated from the background. I'm finding it difficult to pin down but, lke a collection of random ornaments, it feels a bit too (perhaps the word is) clinical. I do admire your skill. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Comment This is well suited to monochrome. I like the restrained handling and the good composition. The addition of the sun rays has made the atmosphere . I agree with the others about the pillar on the left. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Comment This is a super surreal image. You have put an awful lot of work into it. I find the fact that everything is leaning, out of balance, very much how the world feels in these uncertain days. Well done. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Comment Like Hazel, I would like to see the background more muted, or darkened. And yes, it is a bit over the top, but that's where the fun starts. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Comment A great picture. About 20 or so years ago polar coordinates in Photoshop were all the rage. I haven't seen its use recently until this. Good fun. Jan 15th
41 Jan 26 Comment I agree with the others on removing the window shadow from the bark of the trunk. I also think you should take some of the yellow out of the grass. Overall a charming picture Jan 15th

99 Jan 26 Comment What a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the group. I really lke this. At first sight it is a schooner sailing into the fog, then the reeds show themselves and the two merge into minimalist design. So much to enjoy. I don't mind the cut off bit at the base - the reflection leads us in. When my wife saw this picture she immediately said that it would look great as a print on the wall. Jan 15th
99 Jan 26 Comment Wonderfully atmospheric picture with a lovely tonality. I agree about the hat. I have only one grumble - the 'thing' on the jetty keeps drawing my eye away from the main subject and I find myself puzzling about it instead of enjoying the whole picture. Jan 15th
99 Jan 26 Comment A beautiful flower picture with incredible detail. I have only one suggestion and that is to add a vignette. Darkening the surround would increase attention on the main subject. Well photographed. Jan 15th
99 Jan 26 Reply Yes thanks, Barbara. It's good to have everything working well again. Jan 15th
99 Jan 26 Comment A lovely pose and a perfect background, not too dark but simple and non-distracting. The only thing that troubles me is the lighting on her face. The overhead light is too strong causing her eyes to be shadowed and her nose shadow dissect her face in a less than flattering way. Moving it down a bit and to one side might help. Jan 15th
99 Jan 26 Comment I like surreal composites, and this is great. The title implies autocratic oversight, but could also be a concerned person checking that everything is alright. That's a wonderful ambiguity, which is enhanced by the manipualtion of scale. Is the eye full size and the room small, or the room full size and the eye giant? We don't know. Love it. Jan 15th
99 Jan 26 Comment I very much like this sort of 'on a black background' effect. I like too that you have used daylight - it has a certain quality. I don't mind the bright underside as that's the way the light fell. Lovely photograph. Jan 15th
