Yes, standing in the water would be scary here with lots of slippery rocks and fast moving currents, and the water is also very cold. I'm actually standing on a small bridge. I've done my fair share of crazy things while pursing photo opportunities over the years, but so far, standing in cold water thankfully isn't among them, particularly since my balance isn't what it used to be. |

Although my own preference would be to have the surrounding leaves a little darker, this obviously has been successful as you have it. I agree that properly exposing white subjects is tricky. Did you intentionally add blur to the image, or is it my monitor that is adding that? |

While the beam in your original image helps give some sense of the background, I did think it needed to be a little darker, so eliminating it solved that problem. I agree that monochrome was a good choice for this image, especially as the blue shirt on the right side of the frame in the color image is a bit distracting to me. |

I agree with others that the monochrome image is better to show the details here, as the brown clay overpowers the color image. While showing the canopy demonstrates the efforts being made to preserve the location, I share Somdutt's thoughts that it distracts from the story of the ruins themselves, and as mentioned above, also had a similar thought about cropping it out before I even read the comments. |

Good idea. I was going to suggest a tighter image of the ruins also. |

I love the leopard and that you captured it with its mouth open. My personal preference is for a little more cropping from the top of the image, which I think draws attention to the subject, but I know other places prefer to show more of the animal in its environment. I do like how you've cropped the horizontal to a vertical image. The detail in the fur also is beautiful. |

Corn lily plants also grow in the Sierra Nevada mountains near me in California. I've taken lots of photos of then, but have never been very happy with them. I like this one with the flower in front of the corn lily. The sky in your edited version is better to me, but I also like the lighter plant from the first image, which shows off the leaf striation better. |

Auschwitz is a difficult place to photograph for many reasons. I think you've handled this composition well, looking straight down the fence to the portion of the guard tower at the end. I agree with Tom that the image feels much more somber in black and white. |
