This is interesting, and initially made me think of inverted benches like are found on some amusement park rides. I wonder if they really help with cooling? Maybe I should try some on my house! I agree going up some more at the top would be nice, but it works as you have it. |

I agree that the monochrome image is the better one here. I initially wasn't certain I liked the bright background, but I do think it is helpful to eliminate distractions and draw my attention to your beautiful lioness subject. |

It is quite a challenge to convert a fall foliage photo to monochrome. Your nice composition with the fence and background mountains helps here. The sky has a little too much contrast for me, particularly in the color version, a common issue with elevation and the sun's polarization. Would one of the neutral density filters in Nik possibly help that, or does it just add too much noise?

I agree with the others that the fish eye and photographing through the fence add a lot of interest to this image. I also am envious of your beautiful sunburst, as I have difficulty getting good ones unless something like a cloud or tree partially blocks the sun. Even then, I end up deleting far more of my sunburst images than I keep. Mine also are very prone to solar flares in the image. I'm wondering if the fish eye helps with that issue?

It's always intriguing how individual tastes differ. I will cast my vote for the monochrome version. I also agree with Tom about cropping out the triangle shaped part of the fountain. Do you ever try longer exposures with images like this? I realize that can be hard to do hand held, and the silky water effect is another issue where subjective tastes vary. I am uncertain whether it would have worked here or not, but if I have time, I usually try water with both faster and slower shutter speeds to see which I prefer later.

I agree that the conversion to monochrome is very effective in this image. I can only imagine how massive this ship was to have such a large part of the frame still intact after over a century of being battered by salt water and weather. Yes, I agree about keeping the people for scale. I also like the water running down the beach behind them. |

Thanks. I felt like the color image had a lot of distractions, but here it is. |
