Apologies for the delay finishing my comments this month. Birds in flight are very challenging subjects, and you have done well to get the eyes and beak so clear. The perspective of the bird coming toward the viewer is interesting. While this crop is fine, an even tighter one eliminating some of the body could be successful, too, I think. I also agree monochrome helps emphasize the form and texture here. |

I like the monochrome conversion of this image, which helps me to focus more directly on the artist and his work. There are a few options regarding the highlight on the head, including to select and reduce the exposure on the area as Som suggests. That usually is my preferred method, also. However, you could try burning a bit if you have an editing program with a burn tool or even some selective cloning, although be careful to avoid altering the wrinkles. |

When I initially saw the thumbnail of this image, it reminded me of a telegraph key. I agree with others' comments that the knob is nice and sharp, and doesn't indicate the extent of the lighting challenges. I like your composition, but think I might try darkening the wheel/background just a little bit more. |

I can't speak to 1880s specifically, but the set designers did manage to make it appear rather timeworn. Since we already have only a small part of the train, I think this is another image I would prefer cropped a bit more from the top. Have you tried darkening the light spots on the ground by the tracks? They are very bright on my monitor, but darkening them may muddy the image. I do like Tom's cloudy sky substitution. |

Monochrome was a good choice for this image, as it creates a photojournalistic sense and also conveys more to me about the darkness of the pandemic times. I agree with Wes that even though it cuts into the window on the left more, I like a little tighter crop from the top to emphasize the sign and empty street even more .... although I guess the largely empty sky also fits with the emptiness of what presumably is normally a very busy street. |
