I'm already likely to run afoul of the preference for more space, but I find the crop of the second ear a bit awkward, and think I prefer this image with a tighter crop. To me, it makes the subject more intimate. I agree with Lynn that it didn't seem to be floating to me, but the rhino does appear ill or distressed in the monochrome image. |

I'm afraid I cannot relate to risking large sums of money, but you've done a nice job with the story-telling aspect of this image. I agree with Tom that adding more contrast is an improvement. I think I'd like the left side of the image just a little bit brighter as well. |

As others already suggested, I believe this image benefits from a more vertical crop, tilted subject, and including the base. Even after having entered several PSA exhibitions and judged a few, it is challenging to predict what works and doesn't in any given exhibition. I tend to find many the monochrome exhibitions go for dramatic contrast, or even things like high or low key. I do think this is different from what we usually see in the exhibitions, though, and that in my mind is a good thing. |

You've made nice use of the leading lines in the composition of this image. As already mentioned, I would like more space at the top. Also, I am curious as to why you've darkened the highlights (other than perhaps to bring out the clouds?), as I feel the image has lost the contrast with the brighter tones and would benefit from being brighter, even if you left the sky darker. |

As others already have mentioned, you did a nice job straightening and converting this image. I agree with you that I would not take the sky as dark as Diana has. Those of us from tornado country are not fans of a black sky! I do think you could increase the contrast a bit more on your image, but definitely keep the textures in the building. They add a lot of interest for me. |

You've given yourself a good challenge photographing a white subject on a white background. For me, it did help to remove the vignette and increase the contrast. I actually kind of like the high key concept, too, although perhaps not quite as bright as Diana has it. Did you actually make salsa with these onions? |
