Do you have a ballhead you recommend? I need to upgrade the one I use, as it doesn't lock down very well. |

It is fortunate that the travel guidelines here are for 100 miles, and I'm less than that from Yosemite Valley. I know we're all looking forward to being able to travel and venture further from home safely again. To my knowledge, there is no enforcement or penalty for longer distance travel here, so some people have continued to take long-distance trips. Fellow camera club members just got back from Yellowstone and a friend in Texas flew to Florida for vacation! I haven't felt that would be wise for me just yet, although I am glad to be able to enjoy Yosemite and an area wildlife refuge occasionally. Alas, I now have far too many photos of birds! |

I like your orchids, and the lighting and contrast in the image is very nice. I do find the stem stopping where it does a bit awkward, but agree that it is also a bit awkward taking it all the way to the edge of the frame. Would it perhaps work to leave the length similar to what you have it but do a sort of fade out from bright to dark? Although I do really like my Canon L 100-400 lens that I was fortunate to get for a reasonable price used when others started going mirrorless, I find myself drooping after shooting with it for a few hours. I probably should try using it with my monopod, but don't know if that would work very well for constantly moving birds and other wildlife. A lighter but equally capable camera/lens combination seems like a better and better idea. |

This image works reasonably well in infrared, but I prefer the monochrome version you showed last month. It seems to have more contrast and definition in the sky, and the grass wasn't quite as bright. If you are going to use this version, are you able to increase contrast in the whites on the sky and church a bit, or will that make the grass too bright? |

You certainly have some interesting and unique travel photos. I'm somewhat surprised they allowed photos, even from the balcony, as religious buildings I've encountered in my travels often do not permit photos indoors at all, and if they do so, it is only when no one is worshipping. I feel the pattern and repetition of the worshippers is conveyed better in the monochrome version of this image, as it doesn't come through quite as strongly for me in the color image. Since the floor is different at the top, I contemplated cropping out most of the top row of worshippers. I think that may be a personal preference matter, though. |

With the bright leaf occupying so much of the image, I find it draws my eye away from the subject. You could darken or clone over it of course, but I decided to try it as a vertical image. I also adjusted the contrast some, but you may prefer the more subtle tones to better match the delicacy of your subject. I, too, think leaving the seed on the right adds some interest and makes the image more unique. Is it me, or have we essentially done the same things to each other's images this month? Now, to do them on my own image! |

I am not at all good at merging images and coming up with creative ideas that I haven't seen used elsewhere, so I'm very impressed with your effort here and especially the creativity in turning the harrow and tines into a UFO. I do agree that the back of the ship would benefit by being brighter, and I also feel the moon is a little bit high in the frame. I also think I would make the small domes on the left side of the Liver building just a little bit brighter. Given the position of the moon, should there not be more light on the left top of the main dome, too? |

I tried something similar when contemplating which one to submit, but wasn't sure how I felt about it. You've adjusted the contrast more than I did, which I think helps the image. It seems the consensus is that less is more so far. |
