Here are a couple examples, albeit probably not the best ones. It also seems I've destroyed the integrity of of the bowline knot, so it would need a different title. I guess what I'm envisioning is something like the series of three or four images I sometimes see in conference or waiting rooms. It seemed your knots might lend themselves well to something like that. |

When I saw this image and all the people skating with chairs, it made me smile. Goodness knows I can relate well to people who do not have the best coordination. My Dutch mother-in-law told numerous stories of the cold winters in the Netherlands. She loved to ice skate on the frozen canals, but hated the cold, which she described as chilling you to the bones. I agree with Lynn's suggestion that it might help to increase the mist/fog graduated effect over the building in this image to help convey the cold weather. Another option is more blue toning, although I personally am not a fan of too much of that in most monochrome images. As others have mentioned, that border is a bit awkward. It seems to me to either need more or less of it. But if it works for you, then yes, do keep it.

While I, too, prefer your image last month looking down on all the clouds, this one with the cable vanishing into them also is an interesting idea that I think can work well. My personal preference on this image is to crop some from the left and top sides, as that brings my attention more to the cable rather than the sky. (Some clouds are fine, but lots of clouds, for me, makes them the subject of the image.) Does the gondola swing a lot? It appears that could be a bit of a wild ride! |

I really like the strong shadow the rope creates in the monochrome image, but find the background works better for me in the color version. I tried blurring the background a little bit, but decided that didn't improve upon what you've presented. I do like Victor's image with the increased contrast making the rope a little brighter. It would create a completely separate image, of course, but I'm thinking a tight crop on the knot itself also might be interesting. |

Apollo looks like he's having fun. You seem to have him nice and sharp, which I find challenging with animals that do not tend to sit still most of the time. What about just cloning the grass up higher to cover the fence? Would that help, or is it too much grass that way? |

I enjoy classic cars, but like you, struggle to photograph at auto shows with all their distractions. As others already mentioned, converting this image to monochrome was a good idea. The way you've presented it works, but since you mentioned being attracted to the reflection of the other car, I decided to try tighter cropping to see if that would put more emphasis on the reflection. That did seem to reduce the dominance of the rear wheel and dark space on the lower left side of the image for me, but others may feel it is too tight now. You can see what you think. |

Wow, I really don't miss those terrible ice storms! I am amazed a bird even managed to land on the tree limb with all that ice. I think the ice adds to the interest, and agree that flipping the image works well here. However, the overall image appears dark on my monitor, which is not surprising for the weather conditions you described. I tried brightening it by adjusting the levels and also adjusting the contrast of the bird individually. Does that work, or does my adjustment take away too much of the feeling of the cold, stormy conditions? |

Thanks for your thoughts, Asbjørn. I have a feeling this is another image that will make everyone question my converting it once I post the color version! However, since you've asked about it, here it is. |
