I like the leading line toward the people, which is more prominent after Tom's reversing the image. However, it seems the train needs either more or less blur. I did find a "motion blur" tool in Photoshop, but was getting just soft focus rather than the streaky effect I sought with it. You're right that doing those long exposure images hand-held is all but impossible in my experience. I wonder if it would work with a monopod, or if you'd need the full tripod? I realize the authorities generally tend to frown on tripods in tight places like metro stations. |

I like Diana's suggestion to crop some from the top, as for me, that better emphasizes the people waiting. I did not read any of the above comments to be suggesting extensive computer work, but rather that perhaps you physically could have walked further to the right (of course, assuming it was possible to do, which may not have been the situation) and composed the image so that the divide in the window ended up between the people on the left and those on the right rather than splitting the person who is in the middle foreground. However, I don't know whether it then would have been possible to keep the station sign in the image, which I think does add to the setting. |

I like the team and plow and your use of the sepia. The silos are a distinctive feature of the Amish farms in Lancaster County and provide some context to the image, so I can see why you might wish to include them. However, I think I like this particular image better without them. To think, I complained about driving a tractor as a teenager! |

My goodness! I don't see much of anything in this image that would pass U.S. health inspections, but it is an interesting insight into the place and lifestyle there. I'd be curious to know more about what lighting adjustments you made from your original version if you're willing to elaborate on that? |

Did you use a tripod, or just adjust camera settings to keep everything so sharp and well-focused? I find one of the challenges when I try to do still life, I tend to have issues with either depth of field, camera shake, or both. I prefer the monochrome image, as I think the lighting is very complementary, and I find the colors and refrigerator in the color image to distract a bit from the subjects. I am not bothered by the partial cutting board and knife as you have them, although it might have been interesting to seem them completely, too. |

I like the perspective this image has of almost looking down a corridor, and agree with Stephen and others that it helps to eliminate the bright bricks on the left side of the image. I also like what Diana did with the lighting/contrast. So glad you were able to get your camera repaired. |

Unfortunately, birds often are not very cooperative models, and this one barely let me get one photo before moving on elsewhere. I may need to look for other images that are less obscured by vegetation. Here is the original. |
