How intriguing that each of these dogs has a different order/disorder to their fur. I am one who prefers your choice of monochrome works for this image. I do like the increased contrast in Bob's image, but as you mention, that, like everything else, is subjective. |

Although I'm now just repeating others' comments, I too like the monochrome conversion of this image. Is it possible to darken the white strap on the left cowboy's shirt and perhaps the white spot below the hand of the middle cowboy? You might be able to create the missing boot using a heel from one of the other two cowboys. However, I never seem to get the proportions and angles correct when I try to do things like that. |

Your flipping and cropping the image worked well to better emphasize the repeating lion figures. I also like Beverly's suggestion to substitute a more dynamic sky (assuming you're not using this image in a competition or publication that prohibits that, of course). As others already mentioned, I too think it helps to eliminate the person. |

This is something I probably would have walked by shaking my head, but you've made it into an interesting and unique photograph. I agree that the folder in the foreground doesn't bother me at all. However, the bright paper/paint samples in the upper left corner distracts me a bit. Thus, I'd probably be tempted to darken them some, or possibly even try a slight vignette with this image. I love how your angle/composition emphasizes the right mannequin's eyes. |

I've tried several times over the years to get good water lily photos, but never have been very happy with mine. I like your yellow lily here in color, and think it also works well in monochrome. Like Diana, I prefer the tighter crop to bring more attention to the intricate blossom, as well as the patterns in the lily pads. |

I like the dramatic wave action you captured in your "original 1" image. However, I did find the background distracting, particularly as the wind turbines draw my eye to them and make me wonder about their purpose on the docks. I think Stuart's suggestion to blur the background helped, and also like the vertical crop. Although images like this one may be common there, I do not believe I've seen many, if any in exhibitions here in California. Perhaps that would be worth trying. |
