I agree with others' comments that you've captured an intense moment. I do find the signs distracting, and don't think it would hurt the image to just crop them out, as you also could crop some from the right side, if needed to balance the image. |

Fantastic action you've captured here. I really like how the individual dirt clouds stand out, particularly in the monochrome image. I agree with Jose Luis that cropping a little more from the top would help eliminate some of the distraction of the vehicle there. Perhaps crop just below the license plate? Also, while you are correct that items can't be removed in PJ, I believe they can be dodged and burned. Would darkening the vehicle help, or just make the area more of a distraction? |

I agree that it helped to straighten the window frame and add contrast to the face. I also agree with Wes that a tighter crop to eliminate the partial hand and arm would add more emphasis to the sleeping subject. You are absolutely correct that street photography is very difficult to do well. |

I do really like the lens. I had some concern about buying used, but just couldn't justify the new price for the version II of the Canon 100-400, yet didn't really want to deal with the push-pull zoom of the older version of the lens. I looked at the new Sigma and Tamron models, but with their weight, I could not hand hold them at all. Hand holding even this one is a chore at slightly over 6 lbs (about 2.8 kilos), but several of the boats at the coast don't allow tripods, and I find even my monopod a bit cumbersome when I'm photographing birds in flight or other fast moving subjects. I'll play some more with the feathers with Topaz. |

As others already have suggested, it seems to me that this image would benefit from darkening the faces and the arm of the mother. I also like Carol's suggestion to add emphasis to the subjects by further darkening the background. It also seems that something (perhaps adjusting for the light conditions) added lots of digital noise to this image. I am not bothered by it in the rest of the image, but find it somewhat distracting on the faces. Would noise reduction help there? |

This is an interesting structure. I am struggling with the square format with such a strong vertical subject, however. My recommendation is to consider cropping out the car and pole on the left (keeping the palm trees) and also cropping in a little bit on the right. If you really want to keep most/all of the white cloud on the left, you could use the clone tool to move the cloud more to the right before cropping. I tried the lens correction tool in Photoshop to straighten the tower just a bit more and thought it helped. The left side of the tower also appears slightly too bright on my monitor. I do like the way you composed to have the clouds extend out from both sides of the tower. |
