Macro photography is such a challenge finding the right focus and depth of field. Yet, you've made it look easy in this image. On my monitor, the area under the eye and the front foot are very hot. Are you able to darken them any? |

I like your revised cropped version of the image, as I found the bright light distracting. The lens goes to f 1.8?! Nice. Excepting the bright light, the rest of the image looks well exposed. |

Interesting old barn, and the curve behind it is nice. I am a bit distracted by the sky in this image, however. Thus, my own preference would be to crop some of it out. I was wondering what does Topaz detail would do about adding more contrast and texture to the bright wheat, so I tried it. Detail didn't do what I'd hoped, but HDR dynamic pop got closer. Unfortunately, it also added quite a bit of noise. I'm not impressed with the noise, but think I like the increased texture/contrast in the fields. See what you think. |

This image has me wondering what is going on to the left. I agree with the others' comments that you did a nice job replacing the head, and I don't find the grain in the image particularly distracting. However, brightening the subject children makes this image stronger for me. I also agree it is helpful to either crop out or darken significantly the arms and legs of the non-subject people. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see if I can find the Topaz detail settings to adjust the contrast some more. Darkening the background some seems to help, too. However, as I think I've mentioned before, I find completely black backgrounds a bit too stark for my tastes with nature/wildlife subjects. |

Apart from possibly darkening the corners a little more, I am not certain how you would improve the lighting. You've handled the tricky exposure situation well. I agree with Diana that the pose seems a bit awkward. Then, being a teen or pre-teen girl can be a bit awkward, too, so perhaps it works for that reason. Did you use any kind of noise reduction? I am surprised at how little noise there is for 1600 ISO and low light conditions. |
