31 Dec 25 Reply Thank you Susan! If you have the chance, you should make the trip! You could spend a week out there and never shoot everything you want and if there's snow on the mountains, it's a plus. I'm heading back out this spring and plan on spending a week or two in that area. Dec 31st
31 Dec 25 Reply Thank you Ian! It's definitely like being on another planet. The hardest part is creating a composition - so much to choose from. Dec 31st

31 Dec 25 Reply Thank you Peter! It's definitely a "busy" area. So many rock formations and beautiful skies. It's like being in a candy shop, you don't know which to pick. Dec 31st
31 Dec 25 Comment Hello Ella,

A charming holiday still life, very creative. I like the reflection even though it could be darkened a little across the front. Believe me, I know nothing about still life, I've never even tried it. But when I first looked at this photo, it seems like everything is spread out a little too far? I think the blocks could be brought closer to the trike and the text size increased. Just my two cents worth.

Happy Holidays,

Michael

31 Dec 25 Comment Hello Susan,

I shiver just looking at this! Tonal control is excellent; whites are luminous without blowing out. Tells a simple story about stillness and isolation. Can't wait to see your wildlife photos next year.

31 Dec 25 Comment Hello Ed,

Great idea, I really like the shadow from the window. I think I'd try to increase the contrast a little and reduce the highlights on the flower. As Ella said, maybe reposition the vase? Not really my genre but it does grab your attention.

Happy Holiday,

Michael

31 Dec 25 Comment Hello Ian,

I don't do portraits either so keep that in mind. I do like the pose though, looks natural but I think the shirt takes over the photo. Don't know if the face could be lightened some or the shirt darkened a little. And as Ella and Peter have said, it probably needs a little more work on the hot spots and glare.

A heck of a lot better than I could do though, overall, a nice shot.

Happy Holidays,

Michael

31 Dec 25 Comment Hello Peter,

Every time I see one of your Iceland photos, I'm ready to pack my bags and get on a plane. This is another great one. At first I thought the church was a little close to the left edge but the more I looked at it I realized I was wrong. The diagonals created by the headstones make great leading lines towards the church and the mountain range with the taller mountain on the right, makes a strong horizontal backdrop and balances the photo nicely.

Happy Holidays,

Michael

31 Dec 25 Comment Hello John,

Quite an abstract! I like how a horizontal line is created to separate the two walls and the contrast between the linear brickwork and the fractured stone. You've got a great eye for this type of photography.

Happy Holidays,
Michael
