31 Jul 24 Comment Ella, your photo captures the grandeur and historical significance of the castle, and the driveway creates a nice leading line into the picture.

To my eye, the perspective could be adjusted a little bit. The tower on the right seems to lean into the photo. Of course it could be the tower itself. I know my favorite lighthouse leans and that's the way old buildings can be.

31 Jul 24 Comment Hello Ed,

I think this photo is a striking and detailed capture of an architectural beauty. It certainly highlights the elaborate patterns and textures of the dome. The entire dome is in focus and all the details are visible and clear. I think the B&W treatment enhances the designs and textures.

I'm wondering if the brightness in the windows could have been reduced to prevent them from being too stark? Also, I think a slight adjustment to the left would have improved the symmetry.

31 Jul 24 Comment Ian this is a very dynamic and engaging photograph. I've attended many boat races in Florida and I can almost hear the roar of the motor and the boat slapping against the waves. The position of the main boat is well-placed slightly off center and with the other boat in the background, it adds depth and context to the scene.

I have to agree with the others about the distracting elements in the background.

31 Jul 24 Comment A visually striking image Peter! The bench in the foreground adds depth to the image and leads the viewer's eye towards the abbey. Along with a nice dramatic sky, it all adds up to a great photo. Jul 15th
31 Jul 24 Comment Hi John,

Great eye to see this composition! The textures of the cans, the barrel and the brick wall add a tactile quality to the image enhancing the visual interest. The dark door and brick wall provides a good contrast to the shiny oil cans.

I feel the barrel makes the photo off balance and if you had the chance to retake it, I'd slide a little farther to the right.

31 Jul 24 Reply Thanks Ed. I can relate to the heat in Florida, I lived there all my life until I moved to NC in 2020. Jul 15th
