Pete,
I really like the subject and the effect you were creating. The one thing I noticed in the image was the direction of the light. I noticed on the house, that light appeared to be hitting pretty much the front of the house. I feel like the side of the house should be a little darker to reflect the direction of the light. I took your imaged a slightly darkened the one side of the house.
I also boosted the contract via another method I use. In Photoshop, duplicate the layer and change the blending mode to Soft Light. Use the opacity slider to fine tune the contrast. |

Emil,
I really like the tonalities in this image. Even though it is a brick wall you have in the image, it still has a clean / uncluttered look. The only thing I would work on is determining what is the focus of the image. Is it the electrical conduit or the windows. |

Michael,
I like the simplicity of your image. Not a lot of distractions. The viewer is focused on the dead tree. Just out of curiosity, I updated the image by changing the crop on the image and removed the people. I wanted to see if the tree became the central focus of the image without the distraction of the people. Here is my version. |

Mark,
As the other has mentioned, this is a great street scene, and I also think that it is busy. I am not sure when I look at the image what the focus should be.
I also tried to create my approach to the image to give you another approach to create more focus. It was kind of tough with the low pixel count.
We are planning a trip to Japan next year. My son did a study aboard in Tokyo and he is excited to show us around. Hoping to come back with some great images like yours.

Adrian, I like how you capture this moment with this individual. It allows to be part of the man's thinking on which fruit he should buy. I agree with the other comments that the bananas seem to be too bright and distracts from the rest of the image. Pretty impressive how you were able to brighten up the subject in the foreground.
I did take some time with generative fill in Photoshop to remove the lights. The black rectangle you used the cover the one light takes away from the image. I find with generative fill that you need to give it prompts to help remove the distractions. I used prompts like, "Fill in area with a grey wall" and "fill in with a will similar to the background". Those prompts helped the generative fill to give me better results. See my version of the image where removed the lights. |
