Thanks Emil. I had walked past this milkweed and had taken a number of images. As I walked to discover other images, I kept thinking about how I could make this one better. Spent some time have to find the milkweed plant again but I do like how this image did turn out. I just recently got in to focus stacking and I like how you can tune the image depth of field after the fact. In years past, I always wished I had a little more depth of field but not too much to keep the background out of focus. |

Michael, That is cool part of macro or close up images. A lot of times you can rotate the image to fit you artist desires. I done that on a number of images where there was not a clear up or down. Thanks for giving me another idea of how to approach the image. |

Michael, Nice choice for a monochrome image. Removing all the color really focuses your attention on your nephew. I agree with Pete's suggestion with the location of the rock. It gets lost in the dark band of water. |

Emil,
I really enjoyed your image. Not much I could add to the others that have made suggestions. St Louis does have some interesting buildings. Years ago, we stayed in the old train station which was really interesting. |

Pete,
Nice image. I do like the crop you used as it shows the performers whole outfit which to me tells a story about him. I do like the contrast Michael suggested. Just adds a little more pop. It's been a while since my wife and I went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival but we had a great time when we went. |

Adrian, I do like the crop you used in this image. It creates a nature frame in the image. I wouldn't be disappointed with the bird not being sharp and having just a little motion blur. To me it adds to the image because the bird is in motion when you took the image. This also complements the waves in the background. My first thought when I looked at this image was the bird was a conductor orchestrating the waves in the distance. |

Mark, Nice macro image. How did you manage to get the fly to sit that long? Those are pesky flies which never seem to sit still long enough. I do like Pete's edit to the image as it does make the fly stand out more and adds more contrast to the scene. |
