This is a polarizing lens which brings out the natural colors of the crystals. The microscope has the usual light from under the stage where the slide goes. I think all microscopes are designed this way. |

Thanks you Gloria. I still need to work on making better crystals. Out of 10 slides I may get one with good crystals and it is very time consuming searching through the slides! I think I am getting better at the camera part though. I looked at some yesterday and the photos are getting easier |

I just thought the yellow border looked nice but not really needed. Thanks for your comments! |

I love the colors and shine on this beetle. I wish the antennas were sharper. Perhaps you could sharpen those in PS. A higher f stop might help too. Yesterday I watched a live macro session by Mike Moats. He uses f32 ( I don't think my lens even goes that high) to get better DOF and the image is soft at that f stop so then he sharpens with his editing program and that seems to work well he says he rarely photo stacks. I am going to try that. |

This is a great grasshopper photo! Kind of creepy with all the detail. I guess I don't see the softness in the near part. |

Very nice. Did you have to focus stacking? I might just crop a little on from the sides to omit the black background, maybe make it a square phot.o |

Wow, tons of detail in parts and a lot of stacking. I looked at the original and there is some detail in the white spikes but almost none in the finished photo. I would try to go back and re-edit to get some of that detail in the white spikes so they are not whited out. Perhaps shooting it with. Little less light might also have helped. |

This came out so nice! Great detail on the head and DOF. |

Like your final photo a lot! I doubt have a few questions. Why did you need ISO of 500? What technique did you use in PS to create the main effect? And one comment: if I want to ring back some of the sharpness I had in the original I just put it under the new photo and brush it in as much or as little as I want.. would that not have worked for you? Perhaps it would look a little different? |
