The camera attachment is such that I am always shooting straight down. There's no lens. The camera attachment screws into a tube attached to the microscope. There's a depth, albeit microscopic, to the slide/crystals. Especially with the scope lens at higher power. Maybe there is some shake. I am going to try a faster shutter speed and try heating my solution next. All tips welcome! |

Nice bee! I think this would look great cropped so the stem is almost out of the photo and part of the right side of the flower gets cropped out too. That puts the bee more in the lower left side a larger. I think the bee looks great and he is most important. |

The pot the plant is in is blurry and distracting since it takes up much of the photo. Also one can see the cloth pattern under the pot, also distracting. I think if you cropped it to show only a little of the pot it would be a much stronger photo and most if the aloe is sharp. See if that works? |

I agree with Stuart. Usually, but not always, the part closest to the viewer should be sharp. I think you would need to focus stack this with that lens. The other option since stacking is hard in a public place is to use a different lens since the macro lens has such a narrow DOF. A very lively flower! |

Your stacking worked well. I find PS is better for stacking some photos and Helicon focus better for others. Your flowers are nice and sharp. I would crop some off the sides to emphasize your center flower. Nice soft lighting. |

Good catch! You might even crop some so the fly is more noticeable. Love the detail and your weed is quite beautiful. |

I bought a 50mm prime lens for portraits and found it does better than my other lenses with DOF. Of course you would be further from your subject so have to crop more. I used to use my macro lens and stack for light board flower photos but now can do it with one photo with this prime lens. You did a good job with this. Not my favorite subject either! |

Thanks for your suggestions. When I enlarge this ( which I think is useful if one wants to print the photo) it doesn't seem that sharp. Also I have seen beautiful crystal photos and can't seem to get those despite allegedly using the same mixtures. I think there is a big learning curve. I will check out that site. |
