Hi Mike, agreed that the colors are all very pleasant and cohesive, and neutral enough that the red on its crest and beak pop a bit. Looks like you really nailed the focus as well, not always easy to do with smaller birds. Well done! |

Hey Tom, good eye with the bird! I go back and forth on whether I should have gone with a higher f-stop and maybe gotten it more in focus, but ultimately I think having the background out of focus adds to the overall effect. |

Hi Mike, happy to be here! And thanks for the kind words. I did use a tripod, more so that my arms wouldn't get tired from the large lens than for any real stability reasons. And as for taking a landscape from ugly to a work of art - the fog does a lot of heavy lifting. It's crazy how it can turn a woodland scene into something ethereal. |
