Charles,
My mother in law passed away about this time last year. There are hallways similar to this where she lived - but not as uninviting as this photo. I would say it is spooky, but I'm getting old enough that the photo is looking a little sad - at least for your subject. I'll skip the feelings this brings out, but it is a needed statement for an aging population - just not one I'm able to comment more on - at least on the feeling side.
What does make this photo communicate these feelings to me are the following: clear but muted colors; not dark, but grey lighting; the pop of light that overshadows the subject; the helpless position of the subject in the wheelchair; the light inviting the subject into the distance.
There is a lot to this photo... |

Quang,
I agree with the image stabilization and Charles' comments. The OM system is one I've recommended to a friend. (I've used Olympus in the past and still a bit of a fan.)
What I love about this is the water swirling in the kelp (or other water plant) on the beach. I've seen similar stands in the past, but never with the water swirling. Nice capture there! I'm also a fan of beach photos like this - one I would be very proud of! |

Sanat,
In a word: Amazing!
I'll disagree with Charles on this one. The subject is the desert valley - per your description. That is EXACTLY where my eyes went: to the barren area in the middle and stayed there. I'm struggling to think of another photo where the absence of something was what drew my eye.
I do love the colors. Some might have taken this photo to black and white (after the color adjustment for dramatic effect) or maybe even used sepia tones instead of black and white.
Soft greens in the village above. Harsh rock on the rule of thirds line to the lower left. Barren river valley consuming the bottom portion of the photo. Very well done on the technical level.
