Thanks Michael for your thoughts. It was my first NPAN workshop. NPAN has very very devoted following and many workshops fill in a mater of minutes. There are several talented photographers leading NPAN. It focuses on not only Milkyway and Startrails but also on low output lighting. This scene was lit that way with very low power LED lights allowing you to capture the stars (in this case the clouds) at the same time as the subject. The dark left corner is a result of absence of light rather than post processing. This workshop was one of the most strenuous I have attended. Hiking for 1 1/2 hours with your camera gear and 2 tripods. I would dress in a T-shirt starting out and by nightfall I was wearing a sweater, parka, hat and gloves and I was still cold. |

I thought I recognized these waterfalls, I've been there! I was part of an excursion from a cruise ship a couple of years ago. Unfortunately for me, it was the middle of the day with harsh light. Your image perfect! Do you recall if you were you standing on the boardwalk when you took this image? At 1/10th SS I assume you were using a tripod. |

I photographed a similar sink hole(lava tube) in Hawaii, it was called "Pele's Well". I almost slipped and fell on the slippery but hard rocks. The things we do to get the shot. Your shot is amazing, with rocks sharp and water creates a sense of motion. You nailed the shutter speed. I like what you have done in post processing, except where did the clouds go?

I feel cold just looking at this image! I like how you put the clump or trees off center.

The Bisti amazing, but getting there is not without some effort. It's at least an hour hike in to the location with no signage marking the way. If you go, I would advise hiring a Navajo Guide to lead the way. NPAN hired Kialo who is also happened to be a very photographer. He was very knowledgeable about where to go. He runs a tour group here: www.navajotoursusa.com |

Emil, this is a great image. It was a difficult image to capture, bravo for not blowing out the highlights. Your post processing is perfect. |

Charles, I love Prague! This image makes me want to go back. Very fortunate to have an angry sky. Might consider cropping in from the lower right to move the subject(castle) off center. |

Arik, kudos to you for pushing the boundaries of IR. I love this. The otter was a fortunate happenstance. You might want to consider darkening the lower right corner since it draws the eye. |

Melanie, I really like this image, especially the leading line to the lighthouse. Well seen. As far as removal: it's your image, do what feels right to you. That said, if you change the landscape too much of iconic locations, "people" will complain. |
