26 Feb 19 Reply Thanks! Wherever you are have a great trip-- take lots of photos! Feb 21st
26 Feb 19 Reply Thanks. I asked because there are tree branches going into that dark shrub and up the side of the barn. I had trouble knowing what to do there. Feb 18th
26 Feb 19 Comment Thanks everyone. Great suggestions! Feb 18th
26 Feb 19 Reply Jose, do you mean the dark shrub, crop up to the barn? Feb 18th
26 Feb 19 Comment Fascinating sculpture. Do you remember what it is called?

I'm drawn to shiny things to photograph, but their reflections can be challenging.

As far as composing, one idea would be to take only a portion of the sculpture and shoot toward the sky to eliminate everything but the silver metal against sky. It then becomes more of an abstract. I also might have tried shooting upwards from close to the trunk (maybe even lying down) to see what interesting results you might get.

As is, it provides a great record of this piece of art from an enjoyable trip you will not forget.

26 Feb 19 Comment I'll take a tip from you! I haven't yet set my phone for 'pro' mode, f-stops, etc. I have wondered how to get good closeups, so I will follow your lead.

This is mysterious and dreamy. The unsharp stem doesn't bother me since it seems intentional making the whole image soft and dream-like. I'll think about improvements or changes but I like it as is. Creative and pretty in white vignette.

Congrats on this month's Showcase image!

26 Feb 19 Comment Interesting animal, and your edits worked well for pulling details in the foreground and the animal. The overall hues in the image might be adjusted brighter, and I'd crop a little sky. Not being familiar with the animal-- I would remove what looks like a rock near its back. But, maybe it's a natural hump?

26 Feb 19 Comment Incredible. Beautiful geometrics and nice symmetry. Love the colors. The image is wonderful as an abstract and reminds me of art deco design from 20s and 30s. I suggest only that you reduce the highlights on the one bright gold spot in the foreground. I cannot tell where you removed a single thing. Nice! Feb 5th
26 Feb 19 Comment Wow! I love that area of the US. How fortunate to capture that person in that position! Really nice perspective. I see no changes other than posdibly punching up the colors some in the rocks to left. Feb 5th
26 Feb 19 Comment Very pretty little stream. I love it winding along especially the colors reflected. The edits warmed up the whole scene nicely. I'm not sure about the sky. I think you're right, grey doesn't suit it, but I'd try faint warm tones of pinks/oranges as in a sunset since there seems, to my eye, to be a very hint of pinks the snow and water. I'd remove the 2 weeds in the foreground and the bright green spots in the trees. Had to be a super trip! Looking forward to more shots! Feb 5th
26 Feb 19 Comment Maybe it's my desktop or monitor but it shows up overly sharp here. That teaches me not to allow the resizing program to control that... Feb 3rd
26 Feb 19 Comment Thanks, Bob. I'll look for a way to back off the saturation. I agree that cropping more sky is best. Feb 3rd

86 Feb 19 Comment Thank you-- I stumbled onto the flipping idea by accident. I hope it becomes a fun tool for everyone! Feb 18th
86 Feb 19 Comment I know exactly what you mean about workflow! I get lost....
I love this collection and your edits, especially the grunge effect. The only spot I have trouble with is the scale. To me, it's distracting. But, I see more than one image inside this one offering several fun options.

86 Feb 19 Comment Wow, that's fiery! I wonder if we saw the same sunset! I like both images, but your edited version really pops.
I don't mind the noise, but I lean toward artsy images, and the noise adds an interesting artsy element to me. I wonder if either of these might work on reducing noise:
"Smooth" under "Looks", "Glamour Glow".

86 Feb 19 Comment I see a big difference in your edits as they affect the mountain range. Lots more texture and fascinating detail. I prefer the edited version to the original. I really like it, and the colors are great. I had some fun with a couple of images from flying, turning crop circles and terrain into brightly colored abstracts. Feb 10th
86 Feb 19 Comment I'm very sorry you lost your sister-in-law. You honored her so genuinely with this beautiful photo of something special in her life! I'm a flute lover too. My father and I both played. He left his to me. It's sterling and the one I learned on. Great memories.

The image is nicely composed, and B/W works very well. I like the narrow depth of field. You and your phone camera did a remarkable job. It's a strong image of a beautiful instrument, and I see no changes needed.
