Joan, this is a beautiful image. The composition is excellent and especially the detail of the chick feathers. Well done. |

Thanks Joan for your comments and suggestions. I struggled with including the foreground bushes and decided to go with the foreground. I liked how it created a bit of a frame for the vineyard. But I think it looks as good with a heavier crop, which I have done here. Do you like this better? |

Kieu-Hanh, a visitor to our section also disliked the sky. I made it a bit lighter. I posted it in response to her comments below. What do you think now? |

Bev, thanks for visiting and for your kind remarks. You and Kieu-Hanh of this group, have both mentioned not liking the sky for different reasons. The sky in the original was basically just very white. I think I may have gone a bit to far on the linear gradient and made the clouds too dark. Or as Kieu-Hanh said - gloomy. Your suggestion completely replaced the existing sky with an interesting golden hue. I am not sure the golden clouds go well with the long shadows cast over the middle of the vineyard. But an interesting idea. Given both your comments, I went back and made the sky a little lighter. |

Mary Ann, what a wonderful photo. You could have tweaked the original and gotten a good result. But by blending the additional image you achieved a much better result. The background blend image works perfectly to create the impression of wind which is consistent with the horse's mane. And that the horse's eye is visible through two strands of the mane is a great detail. |

Kieu-Hanh, I like the composition of this photo with the Jefferson Memorial at the bottom third and framed by the cheery blossoms. The colors are a bit lacking. Some post-processing adjustments to brightness and contrast may have brought out the colors a bit more. The pinks of the cherry blossom are hardly noticeable. I prefer this in color. |

Ruth, beautiful photo. Everything you did worked. The cropping eliminated extraneous material. The adjustment of exposure and lights and darks made the trees on the left pop. And the conversion to black and white was spot on. |

Robert, terrific work getting this from the original. Very sharp given the ISO 8000 original. The detail of the tongue is so clear in the final and barely noticeable in the original. A great example of what can be done with post-processing. Well done. |
