Got it. Thanks for the encouragement. West Point is about an hour slightly southwest. |

Thanks Robert. It was actually a cloudy day and it even rained for a short time. I usually set ISO to AUTO, so I just let the camera figure it out. I guess I got lucky. You mention sharing photos. Is there another means to do that other than through the monthly submission? |

Thanks for your comments Joan. Appreciated. The rider has been a member of the last four US Olympic teams. I got lucky and he rode out of order, or else I may have missed him. |

Thanks Kieu-Hanh. Very much appreciate your comments. The suggestion to include the full fence is an interesting option. |

I wouldn't change a thing. I think the composition is perfect. I think the moose is already in the bottom third. |

Kieuh-Hanh, the bird on the sculpture is not a part of the original statue. The black on the wing, the beak and the eye appear nowhere else on the statute. It is a seagull. Although I agree with Ruth that you captured the detail on the statue itself, I think the angle is off. The face should be more prominent. The castle in the background is a distraction. This is not up to your usually good eye. I would also like to see more information on the settings you used and what, if anything, you did in processing. |

Mary Ann, what an interesting expedition. Your crop is very good as it draws your eyes towards the horse that is looking to the camera. Your dehazing worked well. There is no evidence of smoke and the background is nice and sharp. Nice job. |

Wonderful shot Ruth. You captured so much detail - in the grass, the stream, the moose, the mountains. All of it. Your composition, with the moose in the right third, is perfect. Very well done. |

Joan, you clearly put a lot of work into this photo, but it does not do much for me. The selection tool seems to have missed part of the lion's front right paw. Or the paw may have been folded upwards, but that looks a bit abrupt. Similarly, the mane is cut very sharp, but it is always a difficult task to get a mane, or flowing hair, to look natural using the selection tool. The inclusion of the grass does not do much to prevent this from appearing to be a floating lion. This does not show your talent for using Photoshop, which we have often seen in this group. |

Great shot Robert. I very much like the crop you did. It really focused my attention. You also did a really nice job focusing, to get the detail of the pine needles in the foreground and the birds, and a blurry background. |

Abdullah, welcome. I like this shot very much, especially understanding your intention. Without your explanation it would have appeared to me to be about conquest, with no appreciation for the struggle of the pawn. I agree with Ruth about the light spot in the center behind the king as well as the one on the left. The other interesting feature is the absence of a chessboard. Nice job. |
