Carole, what a great capture! I will have to check out Nik Efex for some of detail work. I love the light blue color at the tip of the antenna. Sometimes less is more and the tripod, lights, reflectors, just are not needed. Obviously! Your image is proof. |

John, I like everything about this image, the contrast, the clarity, the off centered cemetery. It works well in B & W. Good eye! |

I like this image. The lower left corner was not distracting to me at all. I was immediately drwn to the salt and pepper more than the tomato. I never thought about the different shapes of a pepper or salt particle. From the naked eye, they all look the same. I also like how you have captured the translucency of the inside. Some day I will have a focus rail. Do you find that you use it often? |

Before I read your post about the "story" of the image I made the attached rendition because I found the lady in the background and the sign in the upper right distracting (which I took out of the image). Also, I wanted to get closer to the prominent part of the image. But, Margaret is right, your image as it is tells more of a story than just a flower would. If the background (the woman) is the story, I personally would want her more in focus. I find that when doing macro photography I get so drawn into the fine details, not typically seen by the eye, that the importance of the story is often to easy to forget. Thank you for the reminder! |

Another lovely Margaret West image! I am wondering if masking the daisy background and attempting to paint in more of the blackness would help the dandelion stand out a bit more? Especially in the upper left behind the dandelion where there is red on red. It pops where there is a black background. The dandelion is so crisp and clear! I love the bokeh effect! |

Gloria, Thank you for the detailed description of your experience and process! I loved reading your post! I can tell you had patience and perseverance. Way to pull out that tripod and explore the 1:1! I really like the crisp detail of the Purple and how it makes the yellow/orange part pop. If I knew more about flowers I would name the parts by their proper name : ) I can't seem to find your macro in the original image. Can you direct me to where it is on the original? |
