95 Mar 25 Reply Thank you Margaret! When you do try this, please share your results. I'd love to continue learning, exploring, and collaborating with this concept. Mar 8th
95 Mar 25 Reply Thank you Stuart. By the way, the 70s was a great era! Mar 8th
95 Mar 25 Comment When I first looked at this image my eyes went right to the center even though a majority of the image is the Red and White pedals. The middle lines on the Red pedals also help to bring the eyes straight to the center. For this reason I would check the focus on the center of the image and I would crop in closer just a bit. This will bring out the contrast of the Green and Yellow colors in the center. I really like this image. There was just something I wanted more of. I couldn't put my finder on it so I brought it into Photoshop, cropped it, tried to sharpen the middle, brought up the blacks, and put a white vignette around the outer side for a not necessarily better, but a slightly different, view. I have attached the image. Mar 8th
95 Mar 25 Comment Carol, I really like this piece. It's very calming. I did not notice the floating aspect until you mentioned it. I was so taken in by the beauty of the flowers and the complimenting background. However, I agree that adding the stem is a good move. It grounds the main subject. Excellent work on the background. I particularly like the softness of the pedals in contrast to the sharply focused center of the flowers. I might zoom in on the image just slightly so the eye can linger on those lovely flowers just a bit longer before drifting to the background. Mar 8th
95 Mar 25 Comment A challenging subject, indeed! I've never seen a ladybug with it's wings open. I love that second image! Can Topaz be used to sharpen the face in the second image? As for the first posted image, I'm impressed you were able to get the focus you did on a moving subject using a 90mm macro. I might tone down the glare of the yellow light on it's back and shoulders. Then i'd slightly bring up the blacks. Mar 8th
95 Mar 25 Comment Gloria, I love the colors and textures in this image. I'm wondering if you could bring them out a bit more with a couple of small tweaks to draw your viewer in. If this were my photo, I might play around with the f stop and the highlights. It seems the focus is just above the green? Try bringing your f stop down to f 8 to see if you can get just a slightly stronger focus. The small pods on the right don't seem as in focus as the Green in the lower left corner. I might also bring down the highlights or the exposure just a bit so the center of the image shows those wonderful textures and colors that you've captured towards the top of the flower. Mar 8th
95 Mar 25 Comment Margaret, What a wonderful capture! It makes me cold just looking at it. I love the blue tint. Blue is a cold color and adding the tint accentuates the coldness that ignites and transfers a feeling of coldness to my bones. Brrrr! Whites can be difficult to photograph as they are easy to over expose. The light range in this image is nicely done, or as some might say, "in the Zone." I like how you've composed the image. Rather than just having a crystal in the middle, you've added interest by including parts of other crystals around the boarder. I don't have suggestions for improvement. The images as is, is just lovely. Mar 8th
