Hi Pete - lucky Americans :-) In Europe the situation is quite different and the argument of "public place" doesnt uphold for portraits. The decisive argument is, if the people were only bystanders (e.g. the spectators in the attached). |

A cool shot in every sense. I like the mystery about the size of the iceberg. If there is anything I would improve, then it would be to darken the water behind the iceberg so that the iceberg is better seperated from the background.
A picture that would sell well in any gallery around the globe :-) |

Hi Chris - a great and inspring shot. Very well done. I like the changes you discussed with Emil and personally prefere the square format suggested by Mike as the picture seems better balanced. Well done! |

Hi Emil, Very good shot. I share your admiration for these kind of buildings and started to capture them in vertical panoramas - my new preferred format as you may have noticed ;-) I think it emphasiszes well the mere size of the work. I am travelling without Laptop but tried to recrop your picture with PS express to give you an idea, what I mean. Your thoughts? |

Hi Pete, A great shot which captures the soul of the person well. you are gifted portrait photographer and I am confident your webinar will be a success.
I followed the interesting exchange with Emil. I personally like the initial version best with the cropped head as it brings more focus on the interesting parts of the face.
As a trained lawyer I would be interested what you say in your webinar about the consent: how do you suggest to capture the „model release form" when doing informal portraits - do you ask them afterwards and how to you evidence it? what use is covered (if detailled). In our fotoclub we have a variety on views and couldnt agree on a best practice. |

Hi Mike - very well observed: I initially planned to include the rail of the bridge and the skyline. i then dropped the idea, because I felt the viewer gets lost in the details. However your comment - to which I fully agree - encourages me to reconsider the cropping. BR. |

many thanks Pete for the flowers :-) The Hasselblad system has pros and cons and I read several reviews before acquiring the X2D and considered if the downsides mentionned therein (typically slow AF and lack of video) are relevant for me (they arent as I photograph M with AF assistance (pressing AFD button) and if needed can focus very precisely by the zoom function which I put on the back wheel). I love the simplistic User Interface as I used to get lost in submenus in other cameras. I use the XCD 65 (= equivalent to 50 mm in full frame) for almost all my pictures and am very happy. I have done great makros with the XCD 120. However I stopped switching lenses because I got tired of the dust accumulating on the sensor leading to spots (dont know if other brands have solved this better, but with 100 MP it is annoying). Hope this helps - drop me an email if you are interested in anything else. PS: the camera and the lenses have a considerable weight, which is another reason to not carry all of them with me |
