Hi Mike, I like the picture and how captured the elegance and beauty. I firstly throught that the water would benefit of a bit more dynamics (increase the lights and decrease the darks) but when I was finished I liked your original better :-) Well done. Br, A |

Chris - thanks for sharing the picture and the story behind. The key challenge is the window: as it is the lightest spot, it draws (unwanted) attention to it. However without the window the context (of the boat) is missing. So I guess your treatment did the best of a difficult setup. Br, A |

Hi Emil, great picture. I like a lot how you treatet the stone of the angel and its look now. As Pete I got a bit derailed firstly by the trees. Maybe you could add a mask on the background and lighten it up, so that it is less prominent? Br, A |

Hi Pete, I like the castle and how you converted. I as well attempted to give a bit more drama by adding dehaze and increasing the dynamics.I added a slight vignette in addition. I did it on the ipad version of LR, hence a bit simplistic. Br, A |

Dear Emil many thanks for the feedback. The rationale behind the panorama format is to provide a double viewing experience: firstly the main topic and then in a second step its surroundings. The challenge is to have context which is interesting enough to be shown but not so interesting that it steals the show of the main topic. Based on your feedback (and Pete's) it seemes like I need to emphasisze the main theme still more. Thanks |

Dear Mike, many thanks for the feedback, which helps me to get an idea of the viewers perception. The reason for using the panorama format is because it provides a double viewing experience: firstly the main topic and then in a second step its surroundings. The challenge is to have context which is interesting enough to be shown but not so interesting that it steals the show of the main topic. Thanks. |

many thanks Pete :-) I well see the rationale of your darkening of the lesser important parts with a radial gradient. I undertake the same approach when working on square photos. However in panorama format I feel it is important that (like the background in a theatre or cinema scene) the whole scenario is evenly lit. Hence I did a mask of all the leaves and increased the lights there. |
