Hi Chris, many thanks for your edits. I like the idea of the hands and I tried to implement but at the end of the day I was unhappy about the feet of the other people in the back, which I couldnt hide in a satisfying way. I fully agree with the crop a the bottom and came to the attached final version (or should I rather say "current final version"...). |

Hi Israel,
I well understand your considerations and like "natural frames" per se.
However, for this particular picture I dont perceive that the fact that the people just came out of the temple as being relevant for the storytelling. What different would it make if you would have captured them 10 metres down the road - would the ceremony have looked much different?
Further as a layman I wouldnt have realized that the walls surrounding the picture belong to the temple. They could have been "just another archway".
Our different points of view might be due to the (lack of) familiarity with the ceremony and its surroundings - what do you think?
All the best, Adrian |

Hi Israel
Many thanks for the background of the picture - an impressive ceremony.
I like the picture a lot, in particular that you captured the moment when the cross was in front of the wall. I liked Emils and Petes improvements. I was however a bit uncertain if the frame of the door adds value, so I have removed it.
What do you think?

Hi Chris
Great picture - I love how I feel sucked into the alley and the circle of the rail in front the dark toof. I know Freiburg i Brsg very well as I live myself just 60 kilometres away in Basel, Switzerland.
As you will see I often feel tempted to rework pictures "my way" - the result doesnt aim to be better but just different as an idea of alternative processing. I cropped the picture to remove the half lamp on top, which as a collateral damage removed the bicycle (which I liked). I lit up the alley a bit to increase the contrast to the Bächle and finally I darkened the buildings in the middle of the picture.
your thoughts?

Hi Emil
Beautiful shot - as I have no clue about Palouse I cannot appreciate what you have done differently than others, but the picture is great.
Personally I might have done the sky differently as the complete black looks somehwat artificial to me.
PS Ignore the work on the foreground. I just did a little something with the colored picture to come close to your edits.
Not sure what you think?

Great shot Mandy - the facial expressions of buyer and seller are beautiful. I also very much like the writing in the back between the people which doesnt distract from the people.
When I take pictures on markets or similar I often darken the background a bit, so that it becomes less distracting. Ther are several ways which lead to slightly different results (eg reduction of exposure, reduction of highlights or reduction of shadows or a combination of all of them). The choice depend on the structure of the background. See attached a quick with an exposure reduction of 1 EV. Personally I might do even more, but thgen it becomes visible to the uninformed viewer.

What a beautiful picture!
I love the diagonal perspective and how you cropped the picture during the shot.
The BW conversion is perfect as it adds dynamics in the feathers as if there would have been decent light.
Love it!

many thanks Emil for the excellent builds. I havent realized the light areas on the top right, but since you pointed them out I really find them annoying and will remove them. many thanks for your thoughts. |

many thanks, Pete. I in particular like the crop at the bottom. Without the triangle shadow (probably a bag), the lines are much clearer. I however tend to keep the front leg darker so that it better corresponds aligns the shadow in the puddle. thanks a lot for your thoughts. |
