Hi Israel. This is a gorgeous shot. I in particularly liked that it looks very enigmatic from far and the solves the puzzle when having a more closer look. I find your conversion to bw perfect. Very well done! |

Hi Bob, great shot. I was wandering how the bird gets the snail out of its house? Apart from the snail I in particular liked the scary looking foot. |

Hi Mark, great shot. There are many things I like: the shape of the tree you mentionned but also the structure of the abandoned building and the shape and structure of the road. Following Cartier Bressons "de quoi s'agit il?" question I tried to flesh out the tree by cropping it vertical. I did further increase the contrast a bit, darkened the grass with a linear gradient and increased the structure of the clouds with dehazing linear gradient. |

Hi Emil, this is one of the best pictures I ever saw - congratulations! It is brilliant with its simplicity and the mysterious ambiance it spreads. I will check out Cole's work in more detail. Thank you also for sharing the idea of using correction tools for creating things that hadnt been there before. I havent thought of this before. |

Hi Mandy, I like the picture a lot, in particular the interaction between the train and the skyscraper: they are 90 degrees and have similarities due to the windows. Further I liked the contrast between the straight lines of building/train versus clouds and water. As Mark I would consider that the picture might benefit by including a bit more of the water to complement the sky. See attached a quick try what I mean. |

Hi Pete, great shot. Happy to see it at 10 am and not 10 pm, so that it doesnt impact my sleep :-) I particularly like the interaction and how you captured a moment when the faces were turned towards each other. Find attached an alternative cropping that focus on another aspect. I particularly liked the contrast between the martial tatoos versus the concentration of the workman expressed through the glasses. Hence I cropped the "patient" away to move the focus on the worker, darked the picture (but added some contrast that the tatoos remain visible) and then added highlights to the glasses. |

Many thanks Pete for your comments and encouargement. I considered removing the artefact, but didnt dare to, because I am not very skilled with such repairs. But you encourage me to try it again for exhibition purposes. For competition purposes it is my understanding that such change (as well as the removal of the shadows) would not be allowed under the photojournalism rules "https://cdn.ymaws.com/psa-photo.org/resource/resmgr/pdf/divisions/pjd/pjd-scoring-guide.pdf" which states "Editing techniques that are not allowed: Removing, adding to, moving or changing any part of an image, except for cropping and straightening .... Darkening parts of the image during processing to hide elements in the original scene". But maybe due to my education as lawyer I a more catholic than the pope in these respects? Do you happen to know someone who could provide specfic guidance? Thanks and best regards, |

Hi Mark, many thanks. Your comment encourages me to continue using the last version in exhibitions. I honestly havent heard before of the artist and found out that Yayomi Kusama is 90 years and lives voluntarily in a psychiatric clinic and has made a name for herself in the art world with dots of colour. https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2023/01/09/new-york-is-dotty-about-yayoi-kusama-robot |
