Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
42 Aug 24 Comment Hi Tom - I agree with the other comments: this is a colorful image with a single subject who stands out due to the background blur. All of the action of people moving about behind the subject, who is standing still, provides just the right tension to the frame. There is also a bit of humor in that, if that's some sort of animal balloon to the left of the subject, it appears to be staring at him and his balloons. I, too, would like to see a bit more at the top of the image so that the balloons aren't quite as crowded; however, it's a thoroughly enjoyable image. Aug 27th
42 Aug 24 Comment Hi Stuart - I really enjoy this image. The performer's blue uniform is well set off by the background colors at the other end of the color spectrum. His expression is a portrait of determination, and I happen to think the blur helps enhance the sense of motion. Aug 27th
42 Aug 24 Comment Hi Charles - The drama of the horse's hooves all off of the ground at once, combined with the rider's determined expression and the fringe of the chaps flying, make for a stunning action image, made all the more dramatic by use of black and white. I read your post processing steps. Very interesting: they certainly enhanced the image and drew attention to all the right places. Aug 27th
42 Aug 24 Comment Hi Michael - You sure have a knack for this type of photography. Both the colors and the transparency of the shrimp are fascinating. My only suggestion would be to try auto-fill on the lower left, if that's at all possible, in order to reduce the dark background. It may be just me; however, however, my eyes tended to get pulled down to that corner. An excellent, unusual image. Aug 27th
42 Aug 24 Comment Hi Sharlana - What a good capture and an interesting story. I agree with others that blurring the background would enhance the subject, Zachary. I'd be interested to know if masking and getting the background to more or less match his eye color might also enhance the overall image. Could be fun to try. In any case, a very interesting portrait. Aug 27th
