The chick and it's mother are on the thirds. The contrast makes the image pop. The rippling water gives the photo motion and invites the viewer to imagine the mother's journey to a safe place. Great capture

21 Oct 25 Comment Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. The small birds are a prize well worth the attempt and the success is often fleeting.
The bigger birds are easier to fill the frame. The super telephoto lenses however introduce pixelation and noise when resizing the small birds from increased distances and higher shutter speeds.
I appreciate the sharing of wisdom and knowledge within PSADD 21.

I love this photo. You were able to get in close to fill the frame and capture the essence of this beautiful bird. We sometimes forget the the zoo offers many shooting opportunities. Great tack sharp shot.

21 Oct 25 Comment Leslie,

Too bad you have to go all the way to Ecuador to see these beautiful looking birds. I wonder if the tail is as outstanding and the rest of this Cock-of-the-Rock.

First sighting of the Greylag Geese. The species are great communicators and aviators. I love to hear the calls and the takeoff and landings in formation. Focus is well-done and you picked the correct shutter speed.

The Double-Crested Cormorant is one of my favorite fishers. They are superior swimmers and predators. The webbed feet give them an advantage over other shore birds. This fella is just sunning. Great shot

The color range is fantastic. The Kingbird's color reminds me of Jays. I like the addition of the flora, as well. The bokeh is well done and the capture of the yellow jacket completes the strong story.

21 Oct 25 Comment Tom, the Warbler is telling a strong story around the fountain. The smaller birds are often overlooked. Nice capture. The catch-light is tack sharp. Oct 10th
