Thanks, Dan for your thoughtful comments. I was wondering how many would like or dislike the framing. I appreciate your input. Many thanks, Barbara

Thanks, Ginny - I do realize that we are Nature Plus, and I love this. I believe that Frans's comment to me and referring to me as a seasoned nature photographer and what I thought of minimal edits to our work. I love that in this group we have more options and I love exploring those options and do enjoy seeing what others do with their work. I hope I didn't say anything misleading. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Frans for your comments.
Yes, I think having a clean background is a good way to go with some images and the soft dreamy bokeh can also be a great way to go. What I wouldn't like is all images being soft and dreamy or all having no interest or details in the background. In my mind, there is no wrong answer. Someday, I will try this flower with a dreamy look and hope to share it with you. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. |

I appreciate the link to the Japanese photographers. I do agree with you the images are beautiful. Some folks wouldn't like this as you mentioned because they like minimum edits in nature photography and with your "vegetable image" and some of the flowers from the link you provided which are not native plants. Some folks wouldn't think these are images of "nature". My thought is in these cases we aren't trying to display a natural subject in the wild and we have permission to play. I love what you did with your beautiful cabbage and what the other photographers did with their flowers. What can be wrong with a beautiful image? I hope this made some sense.

Your B&W image of the Barred Owl is wonderful. I hope to see more of your B&W work in the future.

Thanks for your comments, Leslie. I didn't know how others would view the framing and I tried to keep it subtle. I believe I used a border you can find in the Helicon focus software. It was a while ago that I put this image together. Thanks again. |

I believe the bird is a barred owl. The B&W approach is powerful. I don't think I would have thought to do this. Thanks for expending my toolbox. Great shot. |

I love horses and this is a great image. The interest of what looks like a family group in the foreground with a hint of the herd in the distance is a lovely view. |

What a beautiful shot. I love what you did with the image in post. The darkened corners keep the viewer interested. Lovely. |

Ginny - Orchids are one of my favorite flowers. I love the details in the blossoms. It looks like you took this image in the house. My suggestion would be to move the flower to a less distracting wall or a hallway where you could like the flower with a flashlight and let the dark hall be the background. Your exposure and composition is great. The background is fighting for attention and the flowers should be the center of the attention. |
